MAV Event Services began in 2009, with the mission of weaving our way through the 2009 Boise State Bronco Football season.

However, “MAV” dates back to 1987 when I, Mark Allen Vucinich, was hired by the Los Angeles Police Department.

During my time in Los Angeles, I worked many off duty special events including crowd control details on and off sites at various Hollywood movie sets, VIP and Dignitary protection details, fraternity parties at the University of Southern California and on-duty patrol for the then Los Angeles Raiders in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

In 1994, I moved my family back to Idaho and resumed my law enforcement career with the Boise Police Department.  It wasn’t long after moving back that I once again began working in an off duty capacity in the field of crowd management for the Boise State Pavilion, currently known as the Taco Bell Arena.  I continued to build on my knowledge and expertise by working at other venues like the Idaho Center, Qwest Arena, Western Idaho Fair, and others.

In 1999, I was offered the position Director of Security for events at Boise State University, in which I gladly accepted.  From that day forward nothing but good things have happened thanks in large part to all the great work by the staff at MAV Event Services.   Our mission had just begun.

In 2009, Central District Health Department (CDHD) was faced with the responsibility of administering tens of thousands of doses of vaccine to the community in response to the H1N1 influenza pandemic. CDHD employed the services of MAV for a five month period. During this time, MAV consistently provided professional staff to protect our resources (i.e., people and materials) and manage large crowds of people, including children and people with disabilities. As a result of their support, CDHD was able to successfully vaccinate over 90,000 individuals without a single compromise to the mission. Without reliable and top-notch support from MAV, CDHD would have not been able to successfully respond to this public health emergency. Their involvement directly resulted in a decrease in influenza-related illnesses and deaths in our community.

Having experience in promoting and producing live events for over 5 years across the country, producing a music festival that is the first of it’s kind in it’s host location is no easy task.  There are a lot of unknown’s and X factors to deal with.  One of the best decisions we made for Contour was placing the safety and security of our event in the hands of MAV.  They are professional and thorough, which is key in a festival atmosphere.  Perhaps the attribute of this crew that shone through brightest all weekend was that on top of doing a fantastic job keeping the site secure, they were extremely courteous to our patrons.  This goes such a long way from the user standpoint, knowing that they are not only completely safe, but that the people providing that safety are helpful and kind.  That is a difficult balance to maintain, and MAV provided it as if it was part of their program from square one.  I can’t speak highly enough of this team and the organization, and feel they are some of the best in the business.  If given the opportunity to work with them in the future, I would do so in a heartbeat.
